Britax Advocate 70-G3 is the highest category among the Britax third generation seats it owns all the feature that the little brothers but there are some extras. While manufacturing or designing this seat Britax paid attention to the safety. The newest thing is the EZ-Buckle system which is a new technology, that can be found on all the G3 models except for Roundabout 55. This system helps you to avoid trouble while searching for the buckle when you want to put your child into the car seat, because every time you unload the childe the buckle will flip out and you don’t have to search for it anymore.
SafeCells are also used in this model too, but the pads are thicker and they are designed to absorbed more energy in case of crash than the earlier versions. There is a new very tether system with a built in energy absorbing feature which will absorb the force that can impact the child in case of a crash. This is only a minor change that has been made on the seat, but still adds a lot to safety and protection.
To strengthen the construction the designers used steel integrated bars that provide better and more flexible connection with the vehicle and reduce flexing of the seat in a crash. Another very useful safety measurement is using an energy absorbing versa-tether feature providing a stage release tether webbing to slow the forward movement.
For better and easier installation you can find lock offs on the seat for rear facing and forward facing positions as well. These lock offs helps you to keep the seat belt tight providing better hold to the seat and this way a safer journey because the seat cannot move in those positions. For your kid’s comfort there are 2 reclines, 1 in rear facing and two in forward facing position, this is not only a comfort feature but it also gives a plus safety to the seat.
Britax Advocate 70-G3 is not the biggest car seat on the market but it is big enough and has the height limit of 49 inches that allows a 6 years old child to use the seat until he or she reaches the weight limit. Experts advise that children should sit in the seat rear facing until they reach the maximum height or weight. The weight limit of the seat in rear facing position is 40lbs. while in forward facing position it is available for children until 70lbs of weight or 49” of height. These seats are usable for 7 years and they are certified to be used on an aircraft too.
There are new Britax accessories for this model that can be purchase separately. One of them is the Britax Car Seat Protector which is thin and can be used well if you don’t want your car seat to be damaged or ruined while using the seat. If you need more comfort or protection for your child you can order a Britax Head and Body Support Pillow. Of course Britax Advocate 70-G3 is compatible with the older extras too, so you can use the infant insert cushion if you have a little baby.
Another very pleasing feature of the seat is that it is very easy to install and it is designed to be Airplane-Approved. Although it can be used on airplanes the width of the seat may cause some trouble not to mention the weight of the seat. If you decide to travel with this seat on a plane you might need to hire a luggage carrier cart preventing yourself from carrying it by hand.
Right after advantages let’s see the disadvantages this car seat has. First and foremost the biggest downside of Britax Advocate 70-G3 is the price, it cost 379 dollars which is a little bit high for a convertible car seat, but if you cannot afford, it is undoubtedly the best choice you can make.
Since the price is very high, basically this is the most expensive convertible car seat on the market, the other features seems more negative than they really are. The other big disadvantage at least if you have a small car or want to travel by air often is the width of the seat. Of course this is not a big disadvantage if we look at the cause, which is the new SICT side cushions which provide more protection against side crashes. But if you want a smaller, or a narrower one you can choose any Britax product.
All in all this is a premium category convertible car seat and not only the quality is premium, but the price is too, so this product is mainly for the upper class. Anyway if you can afford, and your kids’ safety is worth everything on earth, I’m sure it is, choose this.
